Have you ever been in a snow storm so wild that you could not even see fifty feet in front of you? I have it and it was scary. I was driving back to Helena from Bozeman and got caught in a horrendous blizzard.
This reminds me of the shipwreck that occurred during Paul’s journey to Rome (Acts 27). The storm raged on and would not let up. Navigation became impossible as they where unable to see the sun or the stars. At one point everyone lost hope of survival, but Paul did not and he encouraged the others that no loss of life will occur. Paul knew that his mission from the Lord was in Rome. He was visited by an angel of the Lord that night on the ship. Paul relayed the message of hope to the others.
Have you ever been in a situation in which you lost all hope? All 276 souls on that ship did loose hope of surviving the storm. Their hope was restored as Paul encouraged them. Paul’s hope was found in the Lord, just like ours is today. We may not be able to see what the future holds for us, but we do know that the Lord has great plans for us as it states in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope”
